Know the layers of your scalp

The scalp has two main layers of skin.  The inner layers are called the dermis, which contain oil and sweat glands, blood vessels, cells, tissues, and hair follicles.  The outside layers are called the epidermis, which contain the mouths of the hair follicles and protect the sensitive dermis layers.  The dermis layers secrete many important substances to the epidermis layers, such as oil and sebum, that are needed to keep the scalp lubricated and pH balanced.  Knowing and understanding the layers of your scalp are necessary parts of a healthy hair lifestyle.

Love your hair

All hair has its challenges and even though the grass may seem greener on the other side, it's not.  Many people with straight hair envy curly, and many with curly covet straight.  Love your hair and work with it, not against it.  Regardless of the texture, color, length, thickness, thinness, or temperament, all hair is beautiful.  Appreciating your hair and focusing on the positive are the first steps to having the healthy and beautiful hair that you've always wanted.

Potato water can help your hair grow faster

Potatoes are rich in many vitamins and minerals, including Vitamin C, Folic Acid, and Vitamin B Complex, which are all very beneficial for your hair.  The following is a well-known natural remedy to accelerate hair growth:  Peel and then boil 3 to 4 potatoes for about 15 minutes.  Remove the potatoes and let the water cool.  Wash your hair and then rinse it with the potato water.  The potato water will strengthen your hair roots and energize your scalp.  For best results, use the water the same day.

Satin pillowcases are healthy for your hair

If you do not want to wrap your hair at night with a scarf, a satin pillowcase is the healthiest choice for your hair while you sleep.  The smooth satin won’t snag your hair, and it will also help your hair retain moisture.  As an added bonus, a satin pillowcase is also healthier for your face because it helps the skin retain moisture as well and reduces facial creasing.
